Parent to Parent

Parent to Parent Workshop

All parents/guardians of incoming students, whether freshmen or transfer students, who have not previously participated in a Parent-to-Parent Workshop are required to do so during their child’s first year at Bishop Ready.

This workshop offers a unique approach to helping parents in dealing with the difficult issues of our times. Through a series of eight videos and discussions, this workshop is designed to bring parents together for the purpose of helping their children through the challenging passage into adulthood.

The Parent-to-Parent workshop is designed to challenge the thinking of the participants. Each session of the program is conducted by a local facilitator; topics for discussion include alcohol and drug use, character development, communication skills, and peer support. Talking points include: establishing and communicating a family belief system, developing a trustworthy child, understanding the difference between consequences and punishment, recognizing the signs of alcohol or drug use, and setting realistic expectations.

So many misunderstandings occur through miscommunication or a lack of communication. With the common ground of wanting the best for our students and a firm foundation in a virtue-based existence, the Ready family and our students’ families are able to better serve our students and help them to develop academically, socially, spiritually, and emotionally. This workshop is one step toward meeting those goals.

Cost of the workshop is $10.
