BRHS is dedicated to the
principle: “Christ, in
us, is our hope of
glory.”
At its founding, Bishop
Ready High School
committed itself to
placing a strong
emphasis on scholarship
by offering a curriculum
that gave prominence to
science, mathematics,
and languages.
Groundbreaking
ceremonies, with Bishop
Edward G. Hettinger
officiating, were held
on May 1, 1960; the
Dedication of the school
took place on September
24, 1961, with Bishop
Clarence G. Issenmann
officiating.
BRHS is located on the
west side of Columbus
and serves an
economically diverse
population. Students
come to Bishop Ready
from eight feeder
schools; 23 parishes
comprise our community.
We pride ourselves on
being a strong
tradition-minded
community, with a strong
family atmosphere, an
emphasis on
collaboration, and a
pervasive volunteer
spirit.
Our scholar athletes
participate in a fall
and spring sports
program that includes
football, girls’ and
boys’ basketball, girls’
softball, baseball,
volleyball, bowling,
tennis, and golf. Our
athletic history
highlights include five
State Team
Championships, seven
State Finalist Teams,
and 61 Individual Sate
Champions on First Team
All-Ohio.
The Science Wing
expansion groundbreaking
took place on June 6,
1998, with the
dedication on February
5, 1999. In 2004, a
Weight Room, Wrestling
Room, Band Room, and
Trainer’s Office were
added. |
